Horse Boy Method 1 & 2 Certified

Emily is originally from Great Falls in Northern Virginia & now lives in Williamsburg and has been here for almost four years. She loves spending time with her husband, Matt, her 2-year-old son, Eli, and Australian Shepard mix, Monster. Emily attended George Mason University, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Recreation Therapy.  Recreational therapy is unique; the focus is on helping people use leisure activities to improve their overall health and well-being. She volunteered at a therapeutic riding barn in Northern Virginia called “Lift Me Up!” for many years. Her cousin, Michael, has been her inspiration to help those with disabilities. He was born premature and diagnosed with Down Syndrome and Autism. He was non-verbal his whole life and struggled with communication. 

Emily is a huge outdoors person and loves anything in nature, such as hiking and horseback riding. She competes in Western Pleasure style riding with her horse, Bow. Bow is a beautiful Red Dun American Quarter horse. and she has had him for almost 13 years. Emily also enjoys art, music, cooking and having impromptu dance parties with Eli!

Emily joined C.H.A.T.S. in 2022 as a therapeutic riding instructor. She helps with the daily training & working off all the horses, assists in playdates and helps with daily barn chores!
